Source For Wing Information

The searchable Burials and Cemeteries databases are a product of the Utah Cemetery Inventory
Project which includes names and other genealogical information about people who are buried
in Utah cemeteries. The names in the database come principally from cemeteries receiving
grants to help them computerize their data. These participating cemeteries do not conduct grave
marker surveys. Instead, they use the grant funds to convert sexton records to electronic
databases and geographic information systems. These systems help them manage their
cemeteries. They send the data they gather to the Utah State Historical Society for inclusion in
this database. Another source is volunteers (local genealogists and cemetery buffs) who have
recorded grave marker information for small, inactive and abandoned cemeteries and passed it
along to us. A third source is cemeteries that have already entered their records into a digital
format and donate it to the project.. Many Wings are listed in this index. |
Over the past decade, the BYU-Idaho Family History Center (former known as Ricks
College) has been extracting early marriage records from counties in the western part of
the United States. Virtually all of the pre-1900 marriages are included in the index for
Arizona, Idaho and Nevada. Many Idaho and Utah counties have been extracted into the
1930’s and some, much later. A significant number of marriages from Wyoming, eastern
Washington, eastern Oregon western Colorado and selected counties in California are
also included. For a more details see “List of Counties by State”. As of 1 October 2002,
this file contains some 270,000 marriage records with additional entries being added
nearly every working day. Many Wings are listed in this index. Western

Illinois
Statewide Marriage Index, 1763–1900
Since 1985 the Illinois State Genealogical
Society (ISGS) has cooperated with the Illinois State Archives to create
an index to Illinois marriages occurring prior to 1901. Today more than
one million marriages, or two million names, are included in the Illinois
Statewide Marriage Index. The sources for this index include original
county clerks’ marriage records, such as marriage registers and licenses,
as well as publications of county genealogical societies and private individuals.
For each marriage, the index includes the names of the groom and bride,
the date of the marriage or issuance of the license, the name of the county
in which the marriage was performed, and a citation to the original record—volume
and page number for registers or file number for licenses. Volume and page
or license numbers are omitted in the index when published sources failed
to provide this information. |

Illinois
Death Certificates, 1916–1950
This database provides access to death certificates filed
with the Illinois Department of Public Health over 1916–1950. As a result of 1989 legislation,
that agency makes available for public inspection at the Illinois State Archives only copies of
death certificates produced 50 years ago or longer (410 Illinois Compiled Statutes 535/24). The
Illinois State Archives has determined that this Web site is an extension of its Reference Room
services. In accordance with a policy agreement with the Illinois Department of Public Health,
the Illinois State Archives will provide unofficial and uncertified copies of death certificates
only in cases in which the decedent was 25 years or older at the time of his or her death.

INDIANA STATE LIBRARY Genealogy
Division Database to an Index
of Indiana Marriages Through 1850
The Index of Indiana Marriages Through
1850 began over 20 years ago. The project initiated by Dorothy Riker, the
late former Editor of The Hoosier Genealogist listed early county marriages
in that publication.
Cards with groom names were made
from these indexes and placed in the Genealogy Division. Later cards with
brides names were added to this core index. Through the efforts of the
Genealogy Division staff, and the assistance from volunteers, cards were
made for both name of bride and groom for all other counties where marriage
records exist through 1850. These cards were made from information in the
Genealogy Division. Original marriage records are located in the county
seat where the marriage took place. The completed index cards became the
Database to an Index of Indiana Marriages Through 1850. This database contains
approximately 330,000 records totaling 90.5 MB of electronic data. |
