Benjamin Jesse Bromley
The funeral services of Benjamin Jesse Bromley, a former
resident of Heber, were held at Duchesne, May 23 under the direction of the Myton Ward
Bishopric.
The opening song was, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and
pray was offered by Bishop Ivie. This was followed by a violin solo.
The first speaker was president Eldridge, who told of the
honesty and dependability of the deceased.
A duet, "That Silver-haired Daddy of Mine" was rendered.
Reece Clayburn followed as speaker and told of the many
good qualities found in the life of Mr. Bromley, and read a short history of the family.
Mr. Bromley was born at Liverpool, England, March 12, 1857,
the son of Wm. and Sarah Bullimore Bromley. He married Amy Wing in 1882 and was the
father of 14 children, 7 of whom survive. When the aged couple began to fail in health,
they were cared for by their son Vernal and Wife of Duchesne, but at the time of the death
of Mr Bromley they were at the home of a daughter, Mrs McCourt of Price, Utah.
The service closed with the song, "One Fleeting Hour," and the
benediction by John Wheeler. Interment was at Myton, were a Mr. Wilkins dedicated the grave.
Surviving are Mrs. Bromley and the following named sons and
daughters: Joseph and Vernal Bromley and Mrs. Clara Rasmussen of Duchesne, Julius Bromley
of Myton, Mrs. Golda McCourt and Jesse Bromley of Price and Mrs Elizabeth Christensen of
Cache Valley.
Those from heber who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph W. Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. Alma M. Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Johnston, Mrs. Amanda
Shelton, Mrs. Celia McGuire, Mrs. James W. Carlile and son J. Edward and daughters, Mrs.
Viva Giles and Mrs. Oral Kuhni; and relatives from Hanna present were Mr. and Mrs Monroe
Giles, Mr. and Mrs. Narvil Brundige, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wing and Mrs Alfred Giles.
