Wing Fort House
Built in 1641, this house is called the "Fort House" because it was probibly used
as a refuge from Indian attacks. In 1646 it became the home of Stephen Wing, one of
the early settlers of Sandwich and my ancestor. The Wing Fort House is the oldest
house in New England owned and occupied continuously by Wings for over 300 years.
The house is now maintained as a museum by the Wing Family of America, Inc.
The museum is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, from June 15 to
September 30. For off season visits phone the cartaker, at 508 833-1540. Admission
is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children under twelve.
